T-Shirt Screen Printing Q&A:

Q: What is screen printing?

A: Screen Printing is a method of printing that is most popular for putting custom artwork on t-shirts. This type of printing is also known as Serigraphy or Serigraph Printing. Screen Printing is a stencil method of print making in which a design is imposed on a screen of polyester or silk, with blank areas coated with an impermeable substance, a fill blade or sqeegee is moved across the screen stencil, forcing the ink into the mesh openings and onto the tshirt during the squeegee stroke.

Q: What is the set-up fee?

A: Set-up fees are associated with the cost of setting up a press with your artwork. These are typically screen charges and film charges. If you ever have to do color changes during your printing it will also add to your set-up fees.

Q: What type of Tshirts do we use?

A: We have access to almost every brand of t-shirts available. A few of the trusted brands that we use are: Hanes, Jerzees, Gildan, Port & Company, American Apparel, Royal, Bella, Rothco. If you have seen it out there than chance are we can get it for you.

Q: How long does it take to complete a tshirt print order?

A: Usually our production time is between 7-10 business days. Rush 3-5 service is also available.

Q: What type of format should I supply my tshirt artwork in?

A: We recommend always using vector based artwork for tshirt printing. Vector artwork is scalable line art, which will provide the best quality screen print. These file types are Adobe Illustrator, EPS, or PDF. If you submit bitmap based artwork than extra set-up fees may apply depending on the quality. The quality must be at least 300dpi if you have to use bitmap artwork. You can also do it the good old fashioned way and submit Camera Ready Artwork.
